Chair Alivar Mvsevm 455 – Eileen Gray

Description

The simplicity of this chair is deceptive. In reality, it has a number of mitered joints, crossbars and welded features that make production slow and difficult. This model may have been designed for E-1027 (see model 409). However, it does not appear in any of the photographs of this house. Instead, it is very visible in the photographs of Tempe à Pailla, the house of Eileen Gray at Castellar, in the south of France. Here it appears with a painted frame as a terrace chair. Chair with chrome-plated or painted tubular steel frame. Seat and back in hide or cow skin.
